Acceleration Programs: Duval County Public Schools offers the Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) Program at Duncan Fletcher High School, Mandarin High School, Westside High School and William M. Raines High School; Advanced Placement (AP) Capstone at Atlantic Coast High School, Baldwin Middle Senior High School, and First Coast High School; Early College at Englewood High School, Andrew Jackson High School, Robert E. Lee High School, Jean Ribault High School and Sandalwood High School; and International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme at Terry Parker High School, Paxon School for Advanced Studies, Stanton College Preparatory School, Edward H. White High School and Samuel W. Wolfson High School.
Admission is very competitive and the number of students admitted to the ninth grade class at all schools will be limited. The top applicants will be offered a place in one of the acceleration programs for the fall of 2017. Students will be selected based on test scores, grades and a personal statement.
The general admission requirements are:
- A completed application
- A final unweighted GPA of at least a 3.0 or higher for core courses during the seventh grade and the first nine weeks of the eighth grade
- Preferred successful completion of Algebra I (which includes passing the Algebra I EOC) by the end of the eighth grade. (Required for some programs because of magnet requirement and/or course progression.)
