Chat with the Supe is an opportunity for the general public to engage in an informal conversation with Dr. Vitti to discuss the key issues, challenges, and concerns for our schools.  Topics include school programs, boundary updates, uniform polices, safety, standardized testing, literacy, implementing STEM curriculum, and improving student performance.

The first meeting will be held on Monday, October 12 from 6:00 -7:00 P.M. at the Town Center Barnes and Noble Bookstore.

Jacksonville National College Fair

The district is pleased to present the 4th annual Jacksonville Goes to College Week. The Jacksonville College Fair Planning Committee has created a calendar of events for the Week of October 5-10 that encompasses the district's commitment of equal access to a high quality education for all students and the assurance that students will graduate ready for postsecondary education and/or the competitive workplace. The week has been designed to engage families, communities, school staff, and students in activities that promote college and career access and success.

ESSAY CONTEST

The World Languages and ESOL Departments invite students to participate in the annual Hispanic Heritage Essay Contest. Two winners will each receive a certificate signed by the mayor as well as various other prizes. All essay submissions should be sent from teachers to davisj4@duvalschools.org no later than 5:00 P.M. on October 16^th.

The Hispanic Heritage Essay Contest
Essay Guidelines:
• Must be one page, written in English or Spanish, typed and double-spaced with one inch margins. Times New Roman, 12 font, on 8 ½” x 11” white paper.
• Must include a title page containing only the names of the essay, your name, your teacher’s name, your school’s name, and the name of this contest.
• Must include a bibliography using MLA or APA format for all sources including interviews. Failure to credit sources is plagiarism and will result in disqualification.
• Must be written about a person of Hispanic heritage from the Jacksonville community who has made a significant contribution in one of the following areas: Medicine The Arts (visual, music, theater, etc.) Politics Law Education Business Literature Science
• Please read the rubric carefully and understand how your essay will be judged.
Two winners will be selected: one student from middle school and one from high school.
The winners will each receive a certificate signed by the Mayor as well as various prizes.

Teacher Appreciation at the Armada

You’re invited to join the Armada FC for Teacher Appreciation Night, celebrating educators who provide educational excellence in every school, every classroom, for every student, every day. 

The Jacksonville Armada and their sponsors are donating 1,000 tickets to Duval County Public Schools’ teachers to enjoy the match against Ottawa Fury June 7 at 4 pm. 

Persons interested in attending should come to the security desk at the downtown administration office (1701 Prudential Dr., 32207) now through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. 

A school badge is required for pick-up (four tickets maximum per person). Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. To promote fairness and consistency, no substitutions in persons or identification will be permitted.
