Choice Fair & Expo

New boundaries and programs from early learning centers to dedicated gifted and talented magnets at key elementary schools were recently approved by the Duval County School Board. To keep parents and guardians informed about these new school choice options for the 2016-2017 school year, a Choice Fair & Expo will be held at S.P. Livingston Elementary School on Saturday, June 4 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Find out more information here.

      Sign up now for the Duval County Public Schools’ “SPIRIT 5K Southbank River Run” on Saturday, June 4 at 8 a.m. In addition to a 5K race, the event will also include a FREE one-mile “Reading Is Fun” Run.       Mental Health AWAREness Month Fact

      Check out the following fact as part of Mental Health AWAREness Month: One in five American adults experienced a mental health issue. Find out more at www.mentalhealth.gov.

      Also, Duval County Public Schools is sponsoring a Video PSA Contest with the theme “Break the Mental Health Stigma.” Videos must be produced by full-time DCPS elementary, middle or high school students with no more than five students per group.       2016 Reading Extravaganza


      2016 Reading Extravaganza

      Celebrate literacy at Hemming Park on Saturday, May 14 from 9 a.m. – noon 
      for the 2016 Reading Extravaganza! Students will be recognized for the 
      efforts they made toward reading as well as pick-up their reading medals 
      and have the opportunity to swap books. Local celebrities will be on-hand 
      for story time sessions, where they select a book to read out loud to audiences. 
      Additionally, there will be vendors, a food truck, entertainment and more! 
      Reading certificates will be distributed to schools soon.
