Summer Camp Opportunity

The School of Computing is pleased to announce the offering of the 2017 Computing Summer Camp programs for Middle & High School students. The programs provide a blind of technical education and fun activities, aimed at inspiring the next generation of Jacksonville IT professionals.

Earth Day Activities at The Jacksonville Landing

Join families from around the city at The Jacksonville Landing for the 2017 Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 22 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.This is a FREE event that will include Earth-friendly vendors, an artisans market, a petting zoo, mural festival painting, and more!

Middle School Art Exhibition

The 2017 DCPS Middle School Art Exhibition is on display and will run until April 28 at the Florida State College at Jacksonville Kent Campus. Approximately 180 pieces of artwork from middle school students around the district will be on display. Some of the pieces even earned national and/or international honors! 

The exhibition is FREE.

Essay Contest

   We would like to invite Mandarin Middle School students to participate in the Sixth Annual Jacksonville Wi$e Money Week Kids Essay Contest.

Two students (one boy, one girl) will be named this year's Wi$e Money Kids and each winner will receive a $1,000 kids college savings account provided by SunTrust Bank.

This contest is  open to  Middle School students who  submit an essay answering the 2017 Question highlighting the importance of being Wi$e about Money.

The goal of Wi$e Money Week is to teach you how to properly manage your money. Part of being a productive citizen in the 21st century involves being financially responsible. When we are not financially responsible it affects everyone around us in one way or another.

The 2017 Question is:
Think about a time when you, or someone you know was NOT financially responsible and made a bad financial decision. If you could go back and change your decision or give someone advice, what would you say in order to turn the poor financial decision into a smart, responsible one?

The winners will read their winning essays at the Sixth Annual Jacksonville Wi$e Money Week Kickoff Breakfast on Monday, May 15, 2017


All essays become the property of the Sixth Annual Wi$e Money Week Committee and may be used to promote financial literacy. 

GUIDELINES: Candidates must: 

• Be a student in Duval County Public Schools or a Duval County resident in grades 6–8. 
• Have knowledge of money management skills, including decision-making related to spending and saving, appropriate for their age and grade level. 
• Be able to express themselves in front of large groups and cameras.

2017 Reading Extravaganza

The 2017 Reading Extravaganza is coming up on Saturday, May 13! Students will receive recognition for their reading achievements, including their reading medals. In order to be recognized, students must meet the Annual Reading Expectation by Grade Level. A Certificate of Achievement will be sent to each DCPS school to distribute to each student who meets the reading expectations before the Reading Extravaganza.
